Watch jazz legend Sarah Vaughan perform some of her most famous songs in this rare 1974 archival recording.
Sarah Vaughan, or Sassy, was one of jazz’s greatest voices. With an impressive three-octave range, unparalleled rhythmic flexibility, and divine stage presence, her concerts were nothing short of fabulous.
In this rare 1974 recording, she sings with her favorite small combo made up of piano, bass, and drums. Jimmy Cobb, well-known since Miles Davis’ “Kind of Blue” days, appears on drums next to Carl Schroeder on piano and John Gianelli on bass. Recordings of Vaughan’s performances are very rare, making this recording from Brussels’ Marni Theatre, not only a collector’s item for Sarah Vaughan fans but also for any Jazz fan who truly wants to grasp Sarah’s simply divine stage presence.
