Explore the seven sins through dance, envy, greed, gluttony, anger, lust, sloth, and pride.

This ambitious project, put together by Eric Gauthier, brings together seven A-list choreographers of worldwide fame. Each of them transforms a mortal sin into a short work for Gauthier Dance// Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart. 

The result: seven fiercely moving premieres from Aszure Barton, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Sharon Eyal, Marcos Morau, Sasha Waltz, and the two Gauthier Dance//Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart artists in residence: Marco Goecke and Hofesh Shechter.

Hip Hop choreographer Mourad Merzouki brings to life a new work for the technological age. 

Together with his Compagnie Käfig Merzouki is credited with elevating Hip Hop, turning it into a contemporary dance form that is on par with Modern Dance or other expressions of today's dance world. 

This visually stunning co-production between Merzouki and digital artists Adrien Mondot and Claire Bardainne, Pixel was inspired by the everyday confrontation with, ‘’images, video screens, digitalization. Screens surround us.’’ Dancers interact with digital projections, manipulating the synthetic world they exist in.

Fall for Dance North presents More Forever, directed by Oscar-nominated Barbara Willis-Sweete, and choreographed by New York’s celebrated artist Caleb Teicher. 

More forever blurs the lines between movement and music. Set to a percussive score composed and performed by contemporary pianist Conrad Tao, this performance leaps to life on a sand-coated stage. As Tao plays his score live on a grand piano as dancers perform around him. The eclectic choreography draws influence from jazz, tap, and Lindy Hop creating an infectiously playful work. This is a dance that sneaks up on you and soaks you in its sheer musicality.

More Forever is a captivating percussive dance and music work with New York’s Caleb Teicher & Company and Conrad Tao.

This co-commission from The Washington Ballet and Marquee TV is set to an outstanding archival recording of Copland’s Fanfare For The Common Man, recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Copland himself.

The incredible ten-acre dance campus is located near Bangalore, India. There, women and girls come from all over to study contemporary Odissi, a form of Indian Classical Dance that uses symbolic theatrical dance movements to convey a spiritual story. 

In this documentary-style dance piece, the company's Artistic Director, Surupa Sen, speaks about the ancient dance style and shows off the school's talented pupils. This piece was part of Fall For Dance North's 2022 festival.

Ten years after Mikhail Baryshnikov and Ana Laguna’s iconic duet, Place, Mats Ek brings to life a second duet at the Paris Opera. 

Echoing the original duet, Another Place follows a couple as they navigate love, its impulses, its exhaustion, the emotional wear and tear, and the vulnerability of rekindling the flame of love. 

Set to Franz Liszt’s dramatic Sonata in B minor this piece is a dialogue between a couple that only Mats Ek knows how to portray. This duet also marked Stéphane Bullion’s final performance with the Paris Opera Ballet adding an extra layer of bittersweet love.

Echoing the mythical duet of Ana Laguna and Mikhail Baryshnikov in Place, Mats Ek composed Another Place at the Paris Opera ten years later.

In 1998 Mourad Merzouki created Récital, in which the energy of hip-hop mingled with the fragile sound of violins to create a dialogue between six dancers. Hip-hop becomes an art form for him and Merzouki´s Compagnie Käfig begins to tour the world. 16 years later he unites five of his choreographer friends and thirty dancers in order to create Répertoire#1which revives the most memorable pieces of the last years and gives these pieces a continuous life while presenting their creators in their esthetic uniqueness.

This new ballet presents a piece each by Kader Attou, Anthony Égéa, Bouba Landrille Tschouda, and Marion Motin and four pieces by Mourad Merzouki to form an evening´s spectacle. The who´s who of French hip-hop repeats what has happened in the arts time and again: a popular movement is elevated to so called high art.

This dance piece explores life with Dementia (and Alzheimer's Disease) by combining dance, music, and film with Khalil Gibran’s moving poetry.

The Poet focuses on the relationship between a father, John Welker, and his daughter, Rachel Van Buskirk, as he grapples with losing his memory. As his memory fades he struggles to hold on to what he knows through his poetry, revealing a life-affirming inner world that is both mysterious and beautiful. 

This unique piece was designed for film and is filled with beautiful cinematic scenes. The Poet was choreographed and co-directed by Tara Lee with breathtaking cinematography from Guay and Cody Collins. With BiT, Maguy Marin signs her forty-ninth opus in barely forty years. At the center of this brutal charge against ordinary barbarism lies the question of rhythm.

The title refers to the computer term for the unit of measurement of information, this word-syllable gives an initial rhythmic drive, after which the show takes shape, relentless succession of scansions and impulses, twists and tensions orchestrated with the feverish rigor of a dance both joyful and desperate. As a constant in the piece, in an obsessive continuity, the same structure: the farandole, a form of collective dance passed down through the ages, is the recurring motif. All the colors of the human condition slide in, love rites and dances of death. On an exhilarating techno music all in beats, the entire show has no shortage of cruelty on the analysis of contemporary society, in the dark conclusion of the dominations exerted on the intimate as well as the social, a deterioration of which we ourselves are the actors. BiT takes us into the depths of our humanity and questions our individual responsibilities in the turmoil of each passing day.

Ballet Boyz Live at the Roundhouse

Choreography premiered by Danza Contemporánea de Cuba in 1987, and inspired by the homonymous play of the Peruvian playwright Alonso Alegría. In 2015, Carlos Acosta recovered the piece for the repertoire of his company Acosta Danza. This Duet focuses on a tightrope walk across Niagara Falls showing the sheer strength and focus of a dancer as they move faultlessly across the stage. After the success of their collaboration in Boxe Boxe (2010), choreographer Mourad Merzouki and the Debussy string quartet once again explore the mixing of genres. This piece transforms boxing into a poetic dance, accompanied by music that channels Brazilian energy through classical string instruments. Although they are improbable, Merzouki and Compagnie Käfig’s crossbreeding of genres and styles consistently prove visionary and exciting. Boxe Boxe Brasil is no exception.
